New Art Collection: "Infinite Colors"

One of the new pieces in my collection: "Infinite Colors!"
Hello everyone, I hope everyone's fall has been off to a great start!
If you've been following me on my Instagram or Facebook, you'll have noticed that I've been uploading quite a few new gouache portraits. That's because I have created and finished my first ever art collection that I'm proud to call: "Infinite Colors!"

"Coral" "Marisol"
This series actually started through an art subscription box. They had mailed me a set of trial gouache paints, and I had thrown them to the side for months without even thinking of touching them. However, when I started doing markets and my orders of prints fell through, I wanted to find a way to have affordable art for sale while still doing something fun. So, with no plan in mind, I started sketching away on some watercolor paper, and that's when things just started rolling.

"Azeaurea" - The very first piece that inspired them all!
I felt as though I had been thrown into a completely new world, and although feeling a bit confused at first, I fell in love with gouache paints very quickly. They layer very similarly to oils, are as thick as acrylic paints (without it being so tacky), and is as easy to wash off like watercolors! This series gave me so much freedom to mess around with color combinations and really let myself go and enjoy the process of learning this new medium.

"Azalea" "Carmen"

"Heather" "Annalise"
I have always been very fascinated and drawn to cartoons and illustrations, but I haven't really embraced the more illustrative side of art since I started oils. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore oils and what I'm doing, but this really hits home for me and reminds me of the art that I was doing even before I started art school. Just things that came from my imagination and letting that part of my brain take over. This series of art and illustrations felt like a reset button in my brain, and got me excited to get back into painting with oils again.

"Skye" "Roxie"

"Deva" "Leila"
This has been a roller coaster of a collection, and although I'm not thrill with how all of them turned out, I still wanted to show them to you because they've all taught me something new that I want to keep with me as I continue to create new pieces. This has also really inspired me to try to take things another step forward and create another series (hopefully soon) of more figurative pieces, with more movement and body! One thing I hope to keep is the amount of colors I use, because I really enjoy the variety of colors throughout this series.

"Deverell" "Brandi"

"Orion" "Lily"
That's the entirety of my new collection! I'm so grateful to have created these pieces, all of which are full of colors, personality, and life. I hope that I can continue this into my oil paintings and keep the same kind of sponteneity and passion into my new collections moving forward!

"Fiesta" "Ke'lanie"

Thanks for reading and looking through all 17 of my new pieces! I'll be uploading them to my website one by one, so they'll all be in my portfolio tab very soon as well as on my Etsy shop as prints and stickers (and more soon)!
Take care everyone, and until next time!
S.Y.
